...the colors are so pretty..
As promised I present to you some photos that Jeff photographed when him and I were front row at Style Fashion Week LA. Just one of the many bigger events of LAFW. I can't say that Los Angeles is known for it's fashion week (yet) but we are definitely known to be able to put on a spectacular party.
Taken place at the beautiful Vibiana downtown, a historical cathedral that has now been transformed into venue that is used for major parties and events.
A red carpet event with full security of course, you enter to an amazing court yard filed with beautiful people, photographers and complimentary drinks. Set up like a club outside it was has the perfect vibe to begin the night and to be able to sit underneath the stars (and heat-lamps) before entering the main hall to take your seats for the shows. I was taken back by the architecture of the venue and how well organized Style FW was. I am picking a few looks for the designers that I truly loved and would recommend to watch out for.
The first designer was Linden made in Los Angeles a new designer that uses basic pieces that can be mixed and matched to make sexy, stylish yet comfortable garments. I noticed a lot of cotton and other very breezy fabric that most definitely have that southern California girl love all over it. The models all came down with beach waved hair and clean simple makeup that make the over all look effortless.
Next designer that I absolutely fell head over heels (literally) is MadisonPark Collective. They started the show with an amazing performance professional dancers that left everyone in the perfect mood to start the show. I was in love with almost every look that went down the runway, they had a mix of women's and men's.
Even though I am ready for summer and I have no desire to wear anymore winter clothing I actually got pretty excited to go shopping for next season. I got a ton of inspiration from the leather accents, military style yet perfectly fitted coats. I saw a lot of beige and neutral colors with amazing clean lines and cuts that was no where near boring. It was a mix of the best of 70s style of the clean lines and chunky sweaters along with the long amazing coats but nothing about it looked dated or retro, it was fresh and modern and I love that you don't need to be a size 0 to look good in this line.

LA Fashion Week?
I will be the
first to admit I am no the most social person and I can proudly say I
have few friends but that is because when I call you my friend; I truly
love you, care for you and my walls will never be up around you. That
being said, coming to an industry event such as Style Fashion Week LA on
one of the biggest nights (last two nights are the considered to the
creme de le creme) Isn't always filled with pure 100% excitement
beforehand. Usually, I am already planning to make my way through the
crowd. Step repeat, get several photographs taken and find my post in
the back with Jeff to start doing my favorite two things of people
watching and smoking a cigarette with my new best friend who just lend
me their lighter. Silently taking apart and examining everyone's choice
of wardrobe for this particular occasion. Everyone here is wearing the
best of what they think is the best. If you're going to find true style,
its going to be here.
Except this
year, I was greeted by all my girlfriends who I had no idea were even
going to be there. Having assigned seating I was psyched to be able to
have sat with everyone during the second show. So not only was I able to
work I got have a much needed girls night even if it was just for a few
hours.
Here are just a few shots before and between shows.
I
am currently writing about the amazing shows I've seen so far and of
course tonights finale will be included. I am not going to anymore shows
this weekend because this mama needs a break and rest. I apologize for
the gap of postings but after this week I'll be writing about some
amazing new designers that I am have discovered. I am genuinely so
impressed and proud to be a part of this industry. Los Angeles has come
so far even in the last few years in the talent we are producing. We
have real artists here and they are finally getting the recognition they
deserve. Not many things give me chills but when it comes to true art
it has an affect over my soul. I feel the emotion the love the detail of
each garment that the designer put into it. Their masterpiece is a true
piece of art, if you truly understand and feel it its beautiful.

"I'm bangin' for the Westside- this is in my heart, this is how I feel."
We walk around it, covering our eyes with imposter designer sunglasses.
Our last week's paycheck up our nose, and are floating above the city. I have lived in Los Angeles for the
last ten years and in these ten years I have learned that this town is like no
other. I have learned that everyone is someone very important and very special,
yet no one in this town works or ever does anything important or special. To be
successful in this town is to be something more than the combination of your
talents and your skills—it takes a particular kind of person to live here, it
takes a particularly particular kind of person to make this place a home. I didn't
move here to become important or special. I was moved here. My family has moved
more times in my life than I care to remember. But all these wanderings have
given me a gypsy heart that makes it possible for me to conform to any place,
any situation, and (almost) any group of people. I’ve learned that in order to
truly love Los Angeles, you must see it exactly for what it is, and appreciate it
for nothing more. Los Angeles, Hollywood, Beverly Hills—these places breathe
magic, whisper sweet nothings in your ear. Such
proximity to fame and fortune will draw you in and make you promises—fashion
complex fantasies and delusions of grandeur. And even if you are one of the
lucky few that get to nibble on the sweet ear lobe of this whore town, you may find
yourself empty, forgetting your integrity, losing your moral compass.
Now, you have no idea where North is and the 405 is at a standstill.
Imagine how amazing traffic would be if every person that poisons this town with
the stench of desperation and their shallow, hollow personalities, would just
go back home to Kansas, or Iowa, or Ohio, or Minnesota… It would be 10 minutes
to the valley from downtown. That’s how amazing. Not an ounce of makeup just a lot of disgruntle pain. Shot 2010 by Jeff Linett

Jump bitch, jump.
Apparently I'm a few years behind on this but I came across a pair of Cole Haan heels at the second hand store that not only were my exact size but never worn.
When I find a pair of shoes or bag that were this big of a score I immediately feel like I have truly conquered. As I was admiring my purchase I notice "NikeAir" on the bottom of my shoes. My first reaction of course was to be super irritated at the asshole who messed with my shoes.. till I googled.
Back in spring of 2010 Nike and Cole Haan teamed up to make the most comfortable heels ever. The shock absorbency actually made me wanna jump. Jump.
Now this was a brilliant idea.
Retail prices vary from $150-400
My score: $20 :)

Bert Keeter
First [published] article in Chellea Magazine.
written by Sarah Svetlana
editorial by Jeff Linett
I don't have a TV for entertainment, but I do have a Jeff Linett who takes photographs of people on TV, which I think is much better entertainment.
Bert opened the door with a big smile. Looking into his studio space, filled with racks and racks of gorgeous gowns, dresses, and suits, I immediately became a lifelong Bert Keeter fan. He graciously let me choose anything I wanted from his collection and I got to play model in front of his mirror while he showed me how to tie tulle into a stunning accessory for the black dress I pulled. Quite a humbling and inspiring experience.
The designer and reality star who appeared on Project Runway Season 9 is a man of taste. A graduate of Parsons, he is a veteran of the fashion industry, working for fashion houses like Holy Harp, Bill Blass, Arnold Scaasi and Halston. His vision, as evidenced in his collections, is one that incorporates classical concepts of beauty—in both color and texture, which rise above the trends, and stand the test of time. His color palette is elegant yet vibrant. I chose three dresses, one blue and two black. Each piece I chose represented his attention to detail and his keen eye for the shape of a woman’s body.
The heavy silk of the blue gown I chose felt like pure luxury against my skin (and made me hum the tune of “Blue Velvet” in my head). Floor length and long sleeved, it was the neckline that defined the beauty of this design. The cut of the neckline was generous, exposing the clavicle and elongating the neck. Surprisingly, I found that it was in the abundance of fabric—in being ensconced, that I felt most sexy. The black dress, on the other hand, was a wonderful interpretation of the LBD (little black dress). Constructed out of two layers, it once again revealed his penchant for feminine and evocative, as opposed to overtly sexy. While Bert doesn't follow the trends, he allows them to influence his design, but just enough to remain current and very very relevant. I love that I can wear one of his blazers, so elegant and sumptuous, works so well with some jeans and a pair of heels.
I am so glad to have met Bert, because it gave me the chance to rediscover the beauty of “more”—more detail and more fabric that accents and accentuates, instead of revealing or covering up. Audrey Hepburn lives in all of us; Bert just helps us remember that.

Blue monday.
who says love doesn't exist in hollywood?
I recently find myself wearing one of two colors. Red or Blue. Not consciously but I think they have been fitting my moods. The days I feel at my most powerful I am inspired by any shade of red but particularly blood red, Valentino Red. Then, there are days like today when I just was not ready for the week to start and the weekend to end. Here I am, living the healthy life, starting my day off right with a Redbull.

Pump, pump it.
I feel a sudden urgency to just let go a little bit.
I’ve been so
busy these last few days I have completely forgot to actually breathe. OK. It’s Friday morning and I am on my last day
of a very long but productive week. Between running back and fourth from the
valley to Hollywood almost everyday and feeling a bit homeless I find myself
with a backseat full of clothes and not having a damn clue where or when I got
that jacket but hey, I will totally wear that. The next two outfit posts will consist of said such
clothes. All my pieces that I own
or style usually can be mixed and matched in a way that makes it look like an
intentional:
“I just threw this on, but still feel pretty
cool even though I have all of my clothes randomly scattered across los angeles
county but nobody needs to know that.”
look.
Boots,Sam Edelman Pants-,Vintage, Horse Riding PantsJacket-,Thrifted (obviously) Clutch,Mystique Sunglasses, Lucky Brand
I never want to feel like I’m wearing someone else’s ad.
That isn’t style that is just putting on a pretty color and print. Make it your own. Seriously.
March is going to be a crazy wild ride for GKR I have my first articles coming out in
Chellea Magazine for the April issue and Fashion Week is just a short few weeks
away.
We got a few candid’s of the amazing, talented Gordan Bahn doing my makeup before a shoot. He is absolutely one of the most genuine people I’ve ever met (The rarity of that is in Los Angeles is beyond comprehension). Of course I cannot help but turn into model face because secretly I have no idea how to fake a smile and I probably would’ve worked a lot more and had more friends as a child if I learned that one social behavior. On that note..
Have a great weekend!
