Let it fall.

Life creates opportunity to make art. The Hollywood lights at night and a slow shutter speed will create some magic. Here's a fine line between androgyny and femininity. As much of a tomboy I'd like think I am, the inner femme fatal can't help but sneak out. Which is why no matter my hair length or style, I feel most beautiful when it's short or out of my face. Maybe because I can't hide behind my hair and just be myself. My style seems to be evolving parallel to my life right now. Going though any transitional phase affects the way you dress, carry yourself is the message you portray to other people on who you are or want to be.

I am in a brand new place, metaphorically, literally and spiritualy. As I become more focused on exactly what I want from life and learning about who I am, I can't help but become excited.

As you can see I'm ready for jacket weather. The heat in Los Angeles has been torturous and even while I shot these images at 1am it was at least 85 degrees outside. Time for the leaves to turn.. in more ways than one.

boobiesN'jackets

Hi, my name is Sarah and I am addicted to buying jackets. I realize Los Angeles may seem like a ridiculous place to have an abundance of overcoats, but the nights here a little chilly. However, when you want to dress up a plain jean and tee, a jacket is a great addition  that will immediately tie to any outfit together, making you look effortlessly chic [or if you happen to be naked].

The first photo was taken as a test shot, this was my actual outfit of the day. I had a 90s inspired day: my mood dictated baggy Levi's and a gray tank top with a hand knit scarf (courtesy of my grandmother). You will notice I wore my handmade Mala prayer beads throughout the entire shoot. The last few photos don't have any jackets or much of anything but the shoot ended up being natural and beautiful and I wanted to share.

As you may have probably noticed, I love all things vintage. I like to mix and match vintage (in this case jackets) with current trends. This way you can always infuse your own style into any trend without ever looking like anyone else [or if you happen to be naked].

I hope you enjoy the photos ladies and gentlemen .  .

STELLA DOTTIR

My real life Icelandic fairy god mother. Stella Dottir is everything you'd want in one and so much more. Her art pours into her daily life and I'm always excited to go to Stella's show room since I met the designer/artist years ago. Her store, which is more of a home for the fashion inspired and the neighbors throughout downtown LA is also the home for her beloved kitties that will roam in and out. Reminding me of a French boudoir with paintings she has laid out that she paints after having beautiful visions and dreams—Stella designs her pieces after old Hollywood glamour mixed with 20s inspired lace and cuts. Any glamour girl back then would be ecstatic to wear. Except I personally am dressed by Stella and get to try on a one of a kind dress made from vintage fabrics, Stella sat back in her chair to delight in her creation.
I was with my photographer Jeff Linett that day, so you know we shot almost immediately the moment we left the store.

Thank you Stella for being amazing and I hope to be just like you when I grow up.

Light.

Run, B, RUN!

"Let it happen again"--Everybody thought she was crazy.

Found this 90's XOXO skirt at the thrift store for 3 bucks and it has the perfect fit that sits on the higher part of my waist which means I can wear all my crop tops. No fashion trend is ever new but its how you style it that make it modern and new. So now instead of going all the way "hipster" thrifting (which I out grew several years ago) I will mix and match vintage pieces with modern styles. Nobody would ever know or believe how much you actually paid for it. Unfortunately, walking into a Goodwill isn't just taking the first thing off the rack and calling it a day, I truly believe finding treasures is a skill that you're either born with or need to be taught by a trained professional such as myself.  I'm planning on doing a post on "How to shop at a thrift shop like a Gangster Kitty".
Till then... I will inspire you to not pay full price and find things in your closet that you've had forever. Even if you think its past season it can be worn in a whole different way to make it fresh and fabulous.

count your blessings. Thankfully we have facebook to remind us of them

I've just had one of those days where if you looked at me the wrong way or even the right way I could and would bite your head off.

I wish I didn't have to feel like this but there are just those time that girl needs to be alone. To recharge, reflect and just not have to listen or talk to anyone. Yet of course there was the sense of guilt of not doing a thing that I needed to be doing. Unfortunately when you work in a creative field you can't just force yourself to be creative when all you want to do is sit in your closet (my safe place). Before I made it to the closet I started looking back at all my old photos on Facebook, I mean years and years back. Basically watching my eyes (and youth) flash before my eyes. So I wanted to show you guys in chronological order my life in the last 5 or 6 years of Facebook photos, these are not all Jeff photos nor modeling photos but it shows how much growing a person can do, not just physically but where you were in your life 5 years may feel like a lifetime ago. Pretty amazing. I suggest you go back and do this yourself, just once. It's a pretty trippy ride.

I am inviting you into my life, new friends. This is a very rare occasion...

We start with 2009--

and this year so far has been the best yet. I have my beautiful daughter, a better perspective on life, relationships and my career and my future. Posting and looking through my life and remembering all the accomplishments I have achieved and have yet to achieve make me excited for life. Life is good.
