"Let it happen again"--Everybody thought she was crazy. 

 

 

 Found this 90's XOXO skirt at the thrift store for 3 bucks and it has the perfect fit that sits on the higher part of my waist which means I can wear all my crop tops. No fashion trend is ever new but its how you style it that make it modern and new. So now instead of going all the way "hipster" thrifting (which I out grew several years ago) I will mix and match vintage pieces with modern styles. Nobody would ever know or believe how much you actually paid for it. Unfortunately,walking into a Goodwill isn't just taking the first thing off the rack and calling it a day, I truly believe finding treasures is a skill that you're either born with or need to be taught by a trained professional such as myself.  I'm planning on doing a post on "How to shop at a thrift shop like a Gangster Kitty".
Till then... I will inspire you to not pay full price and find things in your closet that you've had forever. Even if you think its past season it can be worn in a whole different way to make it fresh and fabulous.

I don't have a TV for entertainment, but I do have a Jeff Linett who takes photographs of people on TV, which I think is much better entertainment. 
Bert opened the door with a big smile. Looking into his studio space, filled with racks and racks of gorgeous gowns, dresses, and suits, I immediately became a lifelong Bert Keeter fan. He graciously let me choose anything I wanted from his collection and I got to play model in front of his mirror while he showed me how to tie tulle into a stunning accessory for the black dress I pulled. Quite a humbling and inspiring experience.     
The designer and reality star who appeared on Project Runway Season 9 is a man of taste. A graduate of Parsons, he is a veteran of the fashion industry, working for fashion houses like Holy Harp, Bill Blass, Arnold Scaasi and Halston. His vision, as evidenced in his collections, is one that incorporates classical concepts of beauty—in both color and texture, which rise above the trends, and stand the test of time. His color palette is elegant yet vibrant. I chose three dresses, one blue and two black. Each piece I chose represented his attention to detail and his keen eye for the shape of a woman’s body.
The heavy silk of the blue gown I chose felt like pure luxury against my skin (and made me hum the tune of “Blue Velvet” in my head). Floor length and long sleeved, it was the neckline that defined the beauty of this design. The cut of the neckline was generous, exposing the clavicle and elongating the neck. Surprisingly, I found that it was in the abundance of fabric—in being ensconced, that I felt most sexy. The black dress, on the other hand, was a wonderful interpretation of the LBD (little black dress). Constructed out of two layers, it once again revealed his penchant for feminine and evocative, as opposed to overtly sexy.  While Bert doesn't follow the trends, he allows them to influence his design, but just enough to remain current and very very relevant. I love that I can wear one of his blazers, so elegant and sumptuous, works so well with some jeans and a pair of heels.   
I am so glad to have met Bert, because it gave me the chance to rediscover the beauty of “more”—more detail and more fabric that accents and accentuates, instead of revealing or covering up. Audrey Hepburn lives in all of us; Bert just helps us remember that. 

Pump, pump it.

                              I feel a sudden urgency to just let go a little bit.

 I’ve been so busy these last few days I have completely forgot to actually breathe.             OK. It’s Friday morning and I am on my last day of a very long but productive week. Between running back and fourth from the valley to Hollywood almost everyday and feeling a bit homeless I find myself with a backseat full of clothes and not having a damn clue where or when I got that jacket but hey, I will totally wear that.  The next two outfit posts will consist of said such clothes.  All my pieces that I own or style usually can be mixed and matched in a way that makes it look like an intentional:

 “I just threw this on, but still feel pretty cool even though I have all of my clothes randomly scattered across los angeles county but nobody needs to know that.”  look.

I never want to feel like I’m wearing someone else’s ad. That isn’t style that is just putting on a pretty color and print.  Make it your own. Seriously.

March is going to be a crazy wild ride for GKR  I have my first articles coming out in Chellea Magazine for the April issue and Fashion Week is just a short few weeks away.

We got a few candid’s of the amazing, talented Gordan Bahn doing my makeup before a shoot. He is absolutely one of the most genuine people I’ve ever met (The rarity of that is in Los Angeles is beyond comprehension). Of course I cannot help but turn into model face because secretly I have no idea how to fake a smile and I probably would’ve worked a lot more and had more friends as a child if I learned that one social behavior. On that note..

Gangster Kitty Rebel is finally on facebook. 

I have been so incredibly busy this last week working on articles and shooting as well as shooting my daily outfit posts I haven't even had the chance to post anything (oh the irony). 
But, I am back and I have many things to share. The upcoming weeks all the way to LA Fashion Week are going to be a big, giant, awesome blur. My vocabulary is at an all time low. I think I used up all my big words for the articles. Shit
